World Water Day: 22 March

Back to news

World Water Day highlights the importance of freshwater and how it is managed for the benefit of all. This year’s theme for World Water Day– Nature for Water – explores how we can use nature to overcome the water challenges of the 21st century.

World Water Day this year is particularly significant as it marks the commencement of the International Decade for Action: Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028.

Clean, accessible water is critical for sustainable development and the eradication of poverty and hunger, and it is indispensable for human development, health and well-being.

This video highlights the urgency of the need for action and offers each of us a way to contribute to managing the global water crisis by ‘turning off...the waste, turning on...solutions, and turning up…the volume on the water dialogue.
