The Global Compact for Migration

The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM) was adopted this week in Marrakesh, Morocco at an intergovernmental conference (9-10 December 2018) on international migration. The agreement on a common approach to international migration in all its dimensions.was approved by 143 nations and rejected by 10, including the United States, Australia, Israel and several other European countries.

Why it Matters:

The global compact on refugees is a blueprint for a stronger, fairer response to refugee situations so refugees can thrive alongside their hosts. On this International Migrants Day, let us give thanks for what has been achieved at Marrakech and imagine what can be achieved in a world more open to migrants and refugees…
