Consultation regarding the upcoming Synod in Ireland

Back to news

The Irish Bishops are inviting submissions on the Process to be used in the upcoming Synod in Ireland. The next two years will offer opportunity for conversation about: ‘What does God want from the Church in Ireland at this time?’

It’s an important opportunity and even though many may feel we’ve been here before, Jesuit Gerry O’Hanlon spoke on Faith Alive on Midwest Radio about why this time it’s different. And it’s different because Pope Francis is committed to a synodal church, one that truly welcomes and embraces the gifts, talents, experiences and leadership abilities of all the baptised.

It starts by posing the question ‘What does God want from the Church in Ireland at this time?’

Submissions can be made on www.catholicbishops.ie/synod and must be in by Pentecost Sunday- May 23rd 2021. For now, the submissions sought are about what Process(es) you think should be used.

Please share this information with family and friends.
