Elizabeth was born to John Long and Catherine Doyle in Knockatore on 11th July 1905. She was the fifth of seven children. She received her primary education at The Rower National School and entered the Novitiate of the St. John of God Congregation on 7th March 1924. She made her First Profession 1st November 1926 taking the name Pius.
She trained as a nurse at Wexford General Hospital and the Mercy Hospital, Cork. She ministered as a theatre nurse in Daisy Hill, Hospital, Newry.
She retired to Wexford. She died 28th March 1966 and is buried in the Convent cemetery.
